Volunteers are the lifeblood of any non-profit organization.  Guild House is unique as we are an entirely volunteer organization, without any paid staff.  Running a restaurant takes enormous planning and work.  We currently have about 150 women and men who volunteer their time to work at Guild House as cooks, hostesses, servers, and dishwashers.  We are always in need of people who want to give something to their community and have some time to spare to work in our restaurant. You do not need prior experience working in a restaurant. We have excellent volunteers who will train you and your head chef will work with you to make you feel comfortable as you begin your days as a volunteer at Guild House.

Our schedule is designed so that our volunteers have specific days they work each month,  and crews often become like family.  Volunteers are expected to work 2 to 3 days per month, plus working 2 special events  throughout the year.  The staff works either a 1/3/5 week schedule or a 2/4 week schedule.  An example would be a volunteer would work every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesday or 2nd and 4th Tuesday. We are closed for major holidays and we close the 2nd week in June until we reopen after Labor Day in September. Each day begins at about 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. for cooks and begins about 10:00 a.m. for the wait staff and dishwashers.  The day ends after all diners have left and all cleaning and restocking has been completed.  The average day lasts until about 3:00 p.m.  As weekend special events are scheduled and posted throughout the year (from September through June), a volunteer may select at least two days that are most convenient for them to work. Weekend events can be luncheons, wine & hors d'oeuvres, brunches, or dinner. Many of our volunteers work several of these special events because they are so much fun to work.  Though the work is hard, the satisfaction is enormous, knowing that you have contributed to a wonderful meal for our patrons and money for a most worthy cause!  You may call Guild House any time and tell the hostess on duty that you are interested in becoming a volunteer at Guild House.  Our membership chairperson will call you and consult with you about your schedule and availability.
